The Mid-Autumn is a very important Chinese festival. It falls on the 15thday of August. A few days before the festival, everyone in the family will helpto make the house clean and beautiful. Lanterns will be hung in front of thehouse.
On the evening there will be a big family dinner. People who work far awayfrom their homes will try to come back for the union. After dinner, people willlight the lanterns which are usually red and round. Children will play withtheir own toy lanterns happily.
At night the moon is usually round and bright. People can enjoy the moonwhile eating moon-cakes which are the special food for this festival. They canlook back on the past and look forward to the future together. It is said thatthere was a dragon in the sky. The dragon wanted to swallow up the moon. Toprotect the Moon，children h***e to make the dragon away.

The people were so angry thatsome br***e ones suggested killing the king. So they wrote notes telling aboutthe meeting place and time and put them into cakes. On the 15th day of the 8thlunar month every person was told to buy the cakes.
When they ate them they discovered the notes. So they gathered together tomake a sudden attack on the king. From then on the Chinese people celebrate onthe 15th day of the 8th lunar month and eat "moon cakes" in memory of thatimportant event.When the Mid-Autumn Festival is near, shop windows arebeautifully decorated. Many "moon cakes" are displayed for people to buy. Peoplesend presents such aswine, fruits and "moon cakes" to their friends andrelatives. In the evening of the day, they h***e a feast. After the feast, theygo out to the garden to look at the moon. The children run and laugh on thestreets.
